Barely 100-pound women killing a 450-pound wounded, charging boar with a knife, semi-retired professional assassin (are there other ones?), sparing with a childhood male friend and winning, every step on the way described as from a how-to-do taekwondo book, deep-web job-offer, assassin bulletin board, a dead daughter alive. That is the extent of my interest in this book. How is this considered a mystery, instead of total nonsense, is beyond me. Gave up on page 28.
This was a fun read, full of action and suspense. Sure, Sei might not have been the most believable assassin - she's tiny, smart, incredibly lucky and is capable of taking out a crowd of gun-wielding bad guys, emerging without a scratch - but hey, it's fiction. The bad guys are really bad, the good guys (and we aren't sure who they are until it becomes evident) are heroic. It didn't reach a full ending, but it didn't end on a cliff-hanger, either. I figured out about halfway through the book that one part of the story like would likely be continued, but it wasn't a big deal. You can buy the next book, but if you don't, you won't feel as if you were cheated. I liked the settings in Europe and Turkey.
There were a handful of typos, which is why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 - but there weren't so many that it really detracted a lot from the book. It was enjoyable, and I would read another book by this author.
I loved this book and I love Sei. If you want a fast paced suspense novel that keeps your heart beating wildly from page one on, then this is the book for you. This series features Sei a tiny but mighty assassin with incredible mental and physical skills. I am so glad I found this author. He has a lot of knowledge about martial arts and can truly write realistic dialogue. He creates strong female characters who are believable even though some of the plot twists and turns may seem unbelievable--Sei seems capable of everything he has her saying or doing. Keep writing Ty and I'll keep buying!
This is as solid as they come for a starting book in a series. The one aspect I can't get behind would be the theatricality of Sei's martial arts skills. Aside from that, there is good back story, the text is well paced and the plot elements overlap and intertwine elegantly.
Sei's baby kidnapped by an Assassin but she has believed for 2 years that her baby died. When she found out her daughter was still alive, she became an assassin and went on a search against the assassin's to find her. There is a lot of extreme violence in the book, which is expected, only because it is about Assassin's, their contracts and how they are carried out.
I loved this book. The characters are very easy to like and root for. The main lady is smart and very good at her job. Great story line. Kept me interested and reading. Too many other books that I have read, just didn't cut it for me.
I will purchase the other books in this series. Ty Hutchinson is a new author for me. Love his writing style.
Another case of having to purchase more books to find out the ending. Oh, yes. The heroine couldn't tell the time of day when she was in prison. But a few pages later she checked her watch for the time.
