This is my first Tara Wyatt book and I was so pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it! If you love romance books full of angst, mystery, steam, and swoon-worthy moments than this one is definitely for you! When I mention steam, I mean this is definitively a steamy book so you are forewarned right now… it in no way is over done of detracts from the story. Ok where to begin……….This book follows two main characters Colt and Taylor. Primal Instinct goes from both of their POV’s and it is done really well. Tara Wyatt seemed to have both characters down pat in her head and you can tell that while you are reading.

Taylor is a world famous singer and a bad ass. She has had a few bumps in the road that lead to a very public scene. Now due to that “scene” her label is angry with her considering dropping her. On top of all of that she has writers block. The label has demanded that she have a body guard with her at all times to keep her out of trouble. She is unbelievably pissed about having a body guard, then when she finally meets the body guard she realizes its the one guy who can break her heart. I really enjoyed Taylor’s no holds barred character. Obviously she’s flawed as we all are… she feels like she’s never good enough due to her parents lack of stability. Taylor is a very forward character she sees something she wants and goes for it. She tries to ignore her feelings for Colt… I like how they build a shaky friendship first. However when she decides to go for it, she really goes for it😉

Colt what a complicated character you were. I honestly just wanted to give this big guy a bear hug and tell him it would be okay. He has been working with a friend since getting fired from a previous employer. (aka Taylor’s bff’s boyfriend) He is also an ex Army Ranger who has some horrible mental and physical scars from his many tours of duty. He has an amazing night with Taylor and instantly feels the void when she sneaks out early in the morning. Then by chance he gets assigned to guard her) Poor Colt feels like he never does enough to protect his loved ones so he always tries to over protect everyone. He thinks he has failed the people he loved in the past and he’s afraid he will fail Taylor once she is threatened by multiple people.

I have to say I LOVED the prank wars in this book. I’m unsure how the author even came up with some of these. Tara Wyatt do you enjoy pranking people? ? I would say which one is my favorite prank but honestly I don’t want to give any of it away. I highly suggest this book. It is the second in a series but I didn’t feel lost in any way! This could be read as a stand alone book.
As book two in the author’s Bodyguards series, Primal Instinct is just as well done as the first book. This story features Taylor Ross, a rock/pop phenomenon who is the best friend of Sierra, the heroine from the first book. Taylor has been getting into some trouble lately which causes her record label to hire a full time bodyguard for her. How ironic that one of the bodyguards that has been hired is Colt, her one night stand who she felt more than just lust for. Colt, also, felt a strong connection to Taylor during their night of passion and is happy to reconnect with the talented and sexy beauty. But, neither of them feels worthy of love or commitment from anyone because of past hurts.

Taylor is a strong, sexy, raunchy, tell it like it is kind of character who isn’t afraid to act like the strong rocker chick. But, deep down, she is vulnerable and scared and feels unworthy of being loved for the long term. She had a relationship going with a body guard who works with her best friend’s boyfriend, but that fizzled and left Taylor hurt and looking for ways to forget him. Colt has also been hurt, but his hurt happened on the battlefield where he witnessed something awful which caused severe PTSD and nightmares for the former soldier. He won’t talk about it with anyone and looks for ways to numb the pain and stop the dreams. Until Taylor.

These characters have such an intense chemistry together. Yes, this book is raunchy and smexy, but it fits the characterization and storyline. There is a lot of intense suspenseful action going on throughout the book, something neither of the characters were prepared to fight against. A crazy/dangerous father, a psychotic fan, and then their own demons each present themselves as a roadblock to happiness for Colt and Taylor.

While this is the second book in a series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone. Tara Wyatt has just been added to my must buy list of authors because she continues to write amazing suspenseful stories that keep me engrossed and wanting more! Kudos, Ms. Wyatt!

I am really loving this Bodyguard series by Tara Wyatt! I thought she couldn't top Sierra and Sean from the first book, but I loved the connection between Taylor and Colt even more! They were powerful and raw ... sweet yet sexy as all get out ... wounded yet strong enough to reach for what they wanted. Great supporting characters and a suspense laced plot aid in making this a well rounded story. I really enjoyed it!

Rock star Taylor Ross has been let down and had her heart broken one too many times ... and she's simply done! She lets loose and loses herself in anything she can find ... a bottle, a quick screw, a fast car. Now all of a sudden her record label thinks they can't trust her to get the job done on her next album and throw a bodyguard at her to keep her on the straight and narrow ... oh, and just her luck? It's the sex machine that just gave her the best one night stand of her life!

Former Army ranger Colt Priestly can't believe that his life might actually be looking up when he is assigned to work with the woman he can't stop thinking about. He might be haunted by his past and not capable of giving her everything she needs, but he can't bring himself to turn away from the pull he feels towards her.

When danger rears it's ugly head and Colt has to buckle down and keep Taylor safe, they decide they can't deny their feelings for each other any longer ... but will they be able to make it last for the long haul when outside forces interfere?
