At the urging of a friend, I read this book which is out of my normal genre and I must write that I was very pleasantly surprised. The book moves at a nice pace, kept me interested in the characters lives and kept me curious to turn the pages and find out more. The detail is great yet not too overloaded and I think many teens (and adults) would find the twists of this story very interesting. This is a well developed story and I look forward to Torrey's future along endeavors with some of the other curious characters.

Such a good book! I read it and loved it and my 14-year old daughter read it and loved it! I kept saying, OK just 1 more chapter, but I couldn't put it down. I love when you just have to keep reading because you have to know what happens next! Also just when you think you have something figured out, there are twists and turns and I found myself saying out loud "I knew it!". Definitely looking forward to the next book in the series to see what happens next. I need to know what happens next!
A friend loaned me this book and I enjoyed it so much I am ordering a copy for myself. It's a well written story about a young man whose passion for surfing leads him into some crazy situations. I loved the Goth girl's character. She's a badass who doesn't take crap from anyone. I couldn't put the book down until I read the entire thing. I kept wanting to know what would happen next! This book would make a really cool movie. I anxiously await a sequel )
Though listed in the Young Adults genre, this book with its engaging story line and well developed, memorable & quirky characters, has appeal for readers of all ages. The only disappointment with this book is that it ended! I've been checking frequently to see if the sequel has been published. This book would actually make a great movie. I've actually pondered whom could play Torey, Cassandra and the Appalling Twins. Five star read from a promising author.
At first when I started the book, the writing style was a little difficult to get into, but once I got past the first chapter, what a great read! I couldn't put the book down! I loved the whimsical story and the characters that Mr. Rafferty developed, and I can see how they could be really relatable to a younger audience, especially if they are into the supernatural or arcana. I definitely would recommend this to someone who has young teens or someone who likes a good page turner!
What a fun read! There's something for everyone Mermaids, taking on bullies, surfing, and a mysterious superpower called dynamism! I enjoyed going on this journey with Torey who, in exchange for becoming cool, needs to help his mysterious friend Donovan trap a mermaid. Non-stop excitement and you are rooting for Torey throughout the story, especially during the Surf Competition! So grab your copy of "A Perfect Wave", a surf board and go on this wild ride and you won't be disappointed!
I learned about this book through a follow on Twitter. After reading the synopsis, I quickly ordered and read it across a weekend.

What an imaginative, well-written story! It's gripping without suffocating you, mysterious without driving you nuts, and all-around fun to read. A Perfect Wave will take your imagination on a roller coaster ride of epic proportions, keep you on your toes, and leave you pleasantly thrilled! I'm looking forward to the sequel.

It's a fun story for teenagers and adults alike. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great story written by a great writer. Two thumbs WAY UP!
